Security Challenge:
The Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport first approached Privacy Data Systems with two needs.
First and foremost, they had a need to adhere to HIPAA requirements for protection of electronically transmitted data containing personal health information.
In addition, they needed to protect their proprietary research data and results.
Security Solution:
Selected Technology: Secure Messaging
LSUHSC’s research staff currently uses Privacy Data Systems’ Secure Messaging to send messages and large files, as well as to store private information in the secure vault.
The ultra secure transmission and storage provided by Privacy Data Systems assures LSUHSC that their important communications and research advancements remain absolutely confidential.
The Secure Messaging solution creates an encrypted session between the employee’s computer and the Internet, allowing files to be uploaded, stored, and transmitted with AES-256 bit encryption.
A firm proof of delivery detail provides a chain of custody record for each message and attachment, meeting security audit recommendations.
The user-friendly platform is ultra-secure, HIPAA compliant, and able to be used for transmitting the Pathology department’s sensitive proprietary information.
